Health and Dental Services

medical centre King’s has a comprehensive Student Health Centre at the Strand Campus. This is an NHS GP service run by nurses and doctors. Full-time and part-time students are entitled to NHS healthcare. For international students, full access to the National Health Service (NHS) is available if you are following a programme lasting more than six months. If your stay is for less than six months, and if your country does not have a reciprocal health agreement with the UK (you can check this with the College Health Centre), it is essential that you take out health insurance.

Registration

All students are required to register with a doctor upon arrival in London as this is the only way of guaranteeing medical treatment in an emergency. Students living in London may register with the College Health Centre and should visit the Health Centre as soon as they arrive at King's to arrange this.

Alternatively, if you live outside London or wish to register with a doctor closer to where you are living, you will find lists of doctors at the public libraries and post offices, or at www.nhs.uk

The College Health Centre is open from 09.00 - 18.30 Monday to Friday term time and 09.00 - 17.30 college holiday times (except one week at Christmas when there is emergency cover).

If you are an international student please visit the International Health page for information on eligibility.

Dental services

The King's Health Centre does not offer dental care, however, there are many general dental practices around the College's campuses. To find an NHS dental practice see the NHS website.

Dental care is also available at two sites associated with the College’s Dental Institute. Student dentists give treatment as part of their training. This is offered free of charge to those deemed appropriate to be seen by students under supervision.

Patients requiring specialist opinion can be referred to consultants. Emergency care is available on both sites between the hours of 09.00 -16.00. Emergency treatment is also available in the evenings on the Denmark Hill site.
