English language requirements
If English is not your native language, you will need to provide evidence that you have a certain level of proficiency by taking a recognised English language test such as IELTS or TOEFL. Minimum scores required in the various English language tests are outlined below:
IELTS: 7.0 overall (7.0 in Writing & Reading, 6.5 in Listening & Speaking)
TOEFL CBT: 267
TOEFL paper based test: 630
TOEFL IBT: 109
Cambridge Advanced: Not accepted
Cambridge Proficiency: B
KCL Preparatory Diploma: B+
KCL Pre-sessional programme: B+
If you have recently studied or worked in the medium of English, the PhD Admissions Tutor may waive the requirement to take an English language test.
The King’s English Language Centre offers its own English language courses for those who need to improve their English language skills.
