Biography
Dr Michael Howard is lecturer in environmental health in the Department of Geography at King’s College London. He has a BSc in Zoology from Bedford College (University of London) and a PhD in ecology and the reduction of pesticide use from the University of East Anglia – Norwich.
He previously lectured in environmental health at Anglia - Ruskin University and at the University of Salford. He also served for several years as an Environmental Health officer in local government. He continues to hold the status of Chartered Environmental Practitioner.
His research centres on how enforcement activity – in the widest sense – can best influence the actions of duty holders and promote compliance with health and safety and food hygiene law. Michael is a member of the Food Standards Agency’s Social Science Research Committee.
