The 2010 EPD Group Annual Lecture will be on Wednesday 9th June at 1730- 1830. The lecture will be delivered by Professor Michael Watts on the topic of 'Permanent Frontier: A Political Ecology of Insurgency'.
 
Over the last decade Professor Watts’ research activities have focused on the political ecology of oil in West Africa and on the relations between oil – understood materially, biophysically, socially and symbolically – and the field of conflict in Nigeria in particular. One aspect of this research program is to understand the relations between oil and the rise of an insurgency across the Niger delta oilfields.
