The School is curating a number of prestigious events this autumn including two events at the Wellcome Collection in September. ‘Handle with Care – Next generation Nightingales’ takes place on Friday 17 September and is an evening extravaganza showcasing the complexity of nursing and midwifery care in the 21st century. On Saturday 18 September the School will also hold an academic symposium which will explore the multi-faceted life of Florence Nightingale. Find out more
Men with prostate cancer who experience fatigue as a result of treatment for prostate cancer will soon be given greater support to help them cope as a result of a government grant awarded to King’s College London and The Prostate Cancer Charity. Overseeing the project from the School will be Professor Emma Ream and Dr Jo Armes and the Supportive Cancer Care research group, who will use their academic knowledge of cancer related fatigue to advise the Charity.
The Nightingale Choir, from the Florence Nightingale School of Nursing & Midwifery at King's, performed live on Sunday 8 August with the Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust (GSTT) Staff Choir at St Thomas’ Chapel as part of BBC Radio 4’s ‘Sunday Worship’ programme celebrating the life of Florence Nightingale.
The Complete University Guide 2011 has announced that the Florence Nightingale School of Nursing & Midwifery at King’s is the only university in London to be ranked in the top ten British universities for nursing.
